PUBLIC CHILDREN LAW SOLICITOR/LEGAL EXECUTIVE

We are looking for an experienced Public Children Law Solicitor/Legal Executive to join our specialised Care Team in our Rugby Office. 

The Care Team deal with all aspects of care proceedings, working constructively with Local Authority’s, Guardians and representatives from other firms.

Key responsibilities

  • The successful candidate will have experience in working in a Care Department or in Family Law and have experience of the Legal Aid system;
  • Ability to run a varied and interesting caseload consisting of pre-proceedings, applications for emergency protection orders, care or supervision orders, placement orders, discharge of care orders and Adoption cases;
  • Drafting to include all correspondence, pleadings, documents, witness statements, legal aid applications and instructing Counsel where appropriate;
  •  Attendance at meetings, court hearings and/or conferences;
  • You will be able to manage your own case load, whilst demonstrating exceptional time recording practices, time management and organisational skills as well as being able to work autonomously and effectively;
  • You will be client-focussed in your approach, effective and confident in your communication with colleagues and clients alike.

Key experience

  • A minimum of 3 years PQE as a Public Children Law Solicitor or Legal Executive;
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with Clients, Local Authorities, other professionals and colleagues;
  • Good IT Skills;
  • Exceptional attention to detail;
  • Ability to keep claim under pressure and work to tight deadlines
  • Full driving licence as travel will be necessary
