• Resolution Member

  Resolution used to be known as the Solicitors Family Law Association (SFLA) and is an organisation of 6,500 family lawyers and other professionals in England and Wales, who believe in a constructive, non-confrontational approach to family law matters. Resolution also campaigns for improvements to the family justice system.

  Resolution members adhere to a code of practice which sets out out the principles of a non-confrontational approach to family law matters. The principles of the code are widely recognised and have been adopted by the Law Society as recommended good practice for all family lawyers.

  The code requires lawyers to deal with one another in a civilised way and to encourage their clients to put their differences aside and reach fair agreement.

• Law Society Children Panel Member

  Many legal practitioners earn special recognition for their expertise in particular areas of law by achieving membership in one or more of the Law Society's accreditation schemes.

  The Law Society operates accreditation schemes in order to:

  • promote high standards in legal service provision
  • ensure that consumers are easily able to identify legal practitioners with proven competency in given areas of law
  • help consumers to make informed choices
  • offer solicitors and firms use of a recognisable brand
  • provide information for courts, statutory bodies and other professionals
  • ensure that scheme members maintain relevant standards of competency and expertise, by means of periodic reselection and re-accreditation

  The children panel recognises expertise in covers all types of children law work.

  Accredited members will have shown, to the satisfaction of the Law Society that they have and will maintain a high level of knowledge, skills, experience and practice in the area of children law and the representation of children.

  All accredited Children Law practitioners also agree to follow the Law Society Code of Practice for Children Law. The Accreditation provides a recognised quality standard for practitioners representing children in children law proceedings and is a means of identification for professionals, such as guardians, to identify suitably qualified practitioners when representation of a child is required.

• Law Society Conveyancing Quality Mark

  The Law Society’s Conveyancing Quality Scheme (CQS) is a recognised quality standard for residential conveyancing practices. Members of the scheme are accredited by the Law Society as:

  • Having the expertise to deliver quality residential conveyancing advice
  • Using standardised processes to recognise and reduce risks
  • Educating clients about what to expect when paying for conveyancing advice
